Avoiding file Corruption

I have a sorta related question...Most often, when I want to open an .awt file I've been working on, I open it by double-clicking on the file in Windows Explorer, rather than starting Lectora and opening the file from within Lectora. (One advantage to my method is that you can have multiple .awt files open at once.)However, when Lectora crashes, I've been torn as to whether it would "healthier" to open the file my normal way or through Lectora -- would both ways be equally likely to provide me with the option to restore from backup?Any thoughts/opinions/observations about this anyone?Laura
