Oh contrair....Marketing will show that there is about a 30 % increase to sales with avatars. They are and can be helpful, intriguing, and fresh. They add a sense of humanness to a site. The streams are that, they are pushed from SitePal and take little bandwidth and are very customizable. Once you add the avatar, you can change it on the fly via their web based interface and the results on your page are instant... you do not have to republish your code.... it really rocks.The voices, like I said before, can be yours, theirs, or computer generated... this offers great flexibility. Additionally, and most importanly, I use them for instruction. They tell users about what I want them to know and I rotate the messages.You can use one for news updates etc... and they really offer a fresh insight to the page.Hope this helps.
