Volume control icon
April 3, 2017 12:00 AM
Am I dreaming or thinking of a different authoring system??? I seem to remember that there was a volume control icon for audio played through Lectora but I cannot find it nor do I see any reference to one (other than in the skins of the audio controllers that I do not want to use).
So... how can I control the volume of clips without this? I guess JS - but is there a built-in non-JS solution?
Thanks
Andrew

Change the player name to correspond to the name of the audio player you want to control.

You can use custom skins. I found some info about that somewhere...
Here it is:

Thank you Darrel. Yes I do know about this one but as I said in the original posting I did not want to use one of these skins. I was looking for a kind of stand-alone volume control a bit like (I think) Articulate has.
Cheers

You may have been thinking of the speaker icon which can be controlled in the Display drop-down.
I'll ask around to see if anyone's suggested adding it into a future version yet :)
I was able to get it to show in 17.0.3 (haven't tested functionality on an actual audio file yet) by placing it in my Media Library and then dragging it in.
Thanks Jenny. Darrel seems to have a solution but the .awo file is not being accepted by my versions of Lectora 16 - so cannot test it out.
Thank you Darrel and Jenny. I have to work out what Darell means. Jenny... no I am not confusing it with the speaker icon. Actually, i am thinking of Articulate's speaker icon which, in fact, is a volume control. That's what I am looking for in the context of Lectora, i.e. a volume control for the audio files which is NOT part of a player.
Cheers and thanks again
Andrew
@Andrew, for a client im working on a conversion from a Articulate Storyline project to a Lectora based build. In fact for that case i build a custom audioplayer that works and looks exactly like the Storyline player. Its made in version 17, gonna see if i can get it working in version 16.2.2 and will share it then...
Thanks Math - no need to do the v. 16 test at this stage :)
cheers
No problem Andrew, as said doing it for an existing client. So have to do it anyway ;-) Forgetting about the version 16 test then ;-)
@Math - thank you so much - BUT please do not work on any conversion right now. I control everything with buttons and have no use for a player. I was just looking for a stand-alone volume control if possible. I had thought that there might be a ready-made volume control already.
