Using Lectora Multimedia Player to play files selected by student or designer
December 3, 2016 12:00 AM
Hi Everyone
So here is the idea.
I would like my students to open a page and
EITHER
(a) browse their PC (or go to a URL of their choice), select a file and play it
OR
(b) be provided with a set of files on a server that they can select from and play (and select from ONLY those files).
I am sure it can be done in JavaScript of course but I would like to avoid that or keep it as simple as possible. In other words, I would like to keep it within the bounds of the standard Lectora system (if possible).
Thank you!
Andrew

Hi Sergey,
Thanks for your suggestion. Yes of course, but I think I explained myself badly. I will try again.
I have a folder on a server. The folder has some multimedia files in it. I would like the student to be able to access these files using the Lectora player, and benefit from the lectora layout, use the lectora buttons I have created to play and stop files etc etc, i.e. use my interface rather than, say, an HTML5 player interface.
Now... I want to be able to change the content of the folder. In other words, I do not want to pre-specify the files in any way? Is that doable?
Thanks
Andrew

Create a set of pages with videos, add the navigation (table of contents) to the front page, publish to LMS.
You link it a like a hyperlink and add in file:// to the beginning then the path to the content flipping the slashes around.
I use to do it a previous job (pointed to a shared folder or file). Let me pick the brain of a old co-worker because you have to do something special with the link so it to work.
