Pause Video and Timed Highlight Boxes at the Same Time

I have video on my page on one half and on the other half are timed highlight boxes showing parts of a document that is being discussed in the video. So the highlights are timed with the video.I want to be able to pause the video and also pause the group of boxes - I cant get the highlight box group to pause only the video??
