Lectora X - Using certificate maker

Hello folks,

I found that our hosted LMS certificate maker is very primative and unacceptable for our purposes (if there is an alternative). :-(

The problems encountered were:

Bug/Consistency Problem:

- Field: Certificate Expiry

- month is abbreviated (Completion date field does not abbreviate the month – consistency problem)

- includes unwanted time of day

- missing a comma after day of month

Limitations:

- No ‘exact’ font point size control - can only visually guess the desired font size.

- No font selection (Times-Roman type only)

- No font color control

- No field placement x/y coordinate control. Aligning fields is by eye only

- No field for course score

- Inability to automatically mail certificate to learner. The learner must manually retrieve certificate from the LMS

We had planned to issue a congratulatory email with the certificate attached

So, I thought I would look into using the Lectora certificate maker.

Some questions:

- The certificate size defaults to the course size defaults, which means the certificate displayed is too small. How can I make Lectora generate a larger certificate that the learner can either print out and save as graphic file (at a higher resolution than displayed)?

- I need to retrieve the elearner's name, company name, and certificate expiry date FROM the LMS. How do I do that?

- I am using ICS's Inquisiq so one of the caveats to building my own certificate with Lectora is that there is likely no way to update the "Certificates Earned" section of the LMS. Comments?

- How can I get Lectora to email the learner (including retrieval of learner's email address from the LMS)

Anyone else encounter issues like this, and if so, how did you resolve these issues?

Thank you
