Background Color of Text Boxes Different in Edit vs Preview Mode

Note: This question is entirely unrelated to my previous question about background colors.
I use several standardized text boxes to highlight notes, best practices, etc.... Each of these standardized boxes have specific colors to distinguish between each other. The colors are set in edit mode to colors that are determined most pleasing. However, when I either preview or publish the course, all the text boxes appear with significantly darker colors.
The solution was to brighten the background colors to the point where they do not appear to have any color in edit mode... but appear correct when previewed or published.
Is this a known bug... or an anomaly with my computer? I will check to see if I encounter the same results on my home computer.
