Checking for API Adapter in in course

For years now, we have had issues with course completions in our LMS. This is not a Lectora thing, just seems to be a communication issue. NOt sure what it is, possible network connection drop while a person is in the course and then the info doesn't get back to the LMS. It happens a small percentage of the time, maybe less that 5%... but when you have 25,000 studentds, even 5% is annoying to deal with.
I know that when a course opens, a check is done for the api adapter to make sure there is communication back and forth.
I was wondering if anyone knew a way to have a check for the api adapter triggered again in the course. I would want to trigger this type of check possibly before the assessment is taken. This way, if the connection is broken, I can warn the user before they take the assessment and tell them who to contact. If not an api adapter check, at least some time of connectivity check to make sure that the connection is alive. I am running courses on Docent 6.5 - SCORM 1.2
