PSD 2 Lectora
September 19, 2015 12:00 AM
For a project where a lot of pages needed to be build and where each page existed of multiple elements that needed to be positioned precisely, i wanted to find a solution to automate that.
Luckily a Lectora.awt is quite readable xml, so i managed to get a workflow based on Javascript and Photoshop that can generate a Lectora 10 or 11.awt from a properly setup PSD with layercomps.
Mainly the instructional designer creates his PSD. Making sure whatever he wants to be created separately in Lectora has its own layercomp. Then when he is done he just has to save his PSD into a preset folder, and my scripts automatically generate a Lectora.awt from it. Thus making a lot of pre-courseware development work easily.
A Camtasia video of the process can be seen here:

Due too this being really customized i cannot add the scripts. But anyone interested in it can contact me.. im glad to help out getting something similar to work for your workload...

This is very very cool and perfectly shows the power of open formats. It'd be great if there was more information on Lectora's XML format. Maybe a webinar or a blog is in order :)
