How to concatenate carriage returns

I'm publishing to HTML. One issue may be that I'm using a title that was converted from 2008 to "version 9" and, whether related to the conversion or not, it appears to have some corruption issues.I have done some further tests on a fresh title now and, in case it helps anyone out... It appears that using a text box works in Lectora 9, but not an entry field. And, as before, it only works when previewing in a browser or publishing to HTML.
