View maps in a web-app without opening Maps application

I have created a mobile course in which I embedded a map from Google. When I view the course in Safari, the page loads and displays the map. The user is then able to tap/click the map which would open the default Maps appliation (I am testing on an iPhone).
However, when I save the course as a web-app, the Maps application automatically opens when I try to access the page in which I embedded the map. Is there any way to prevent this? I would like the web-app to function just like the browser version (at least in regards to the map).
