Need Help to get a Video to Play

I have a video created as a avi file. I'm trying to get a video to play when a hyperlinked word is clicked. I would prefer it to open into another window then close the window when it is done.Right now when the hyperlink is clicked it plays the video but you can't see it and it doesn't open a new window.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.
