Lectora 17 is now available!

Lectora 17 is available for download or should be appearing in your program if auto updates is selected. This version includes:

The primary new features in Lectora 17 are:

  • BranchTrack scenario-based simulations: Easily create, import, and edit scenario-based exercises using the BranchTrack application. Track the learner’s selections during the exercise and use the available score.
  • Anchor the position of your objects: Specify whether the object will maintain its location on the page within the view, even when the view is scrolled.

But none of the problems mentioned in the below link are solved.

Version 17 is a new install. We introduced so many new features and bug fixes that we felt it should be its own version of the product. I'll link below the various ways of getting v17 on your computer. It is a new install so as long as you don't change the file name when it's saved they should both download. You may have to change back your preferences for which version opens AWTs by default and don't forget to run as an administrator.

I installed it alongside V.16. It didn't recognize the installed version, and asked for license key.

Hi Jennie,

is it a full install or an update to the current version?

I'd like to install and test the new version as it seems to bring great improvements, but I cannot abandon v16 yet.

Thanks and kind regards

Tim

It's available but where do those of us with maintenance get it? Do we install the trial and it will recognize our license number?

We’re always looking at ways to improve and expand our reach in the global eLearning market. Darin and team are currently working on improving the use and display of Arabic and Persian however, the extensive back-end changes will require a bit more time. We also want to make sure that any implementation is seamless to our customers and don’t create more issues than there are currently.

Thank you, Jennifer. Great info.

Hi Tim,

You can install the new version alongside the previous version.

Hi,

How / when do we get the BranchTrack activation code? Have registered the lectora 17 install - will an email get sent to me with this code?

Thanks,

Stuart

I have Auto Update selected in my preferences, but nothing has come up so I can update to 17. I just clicked on the "Check for Updates Now" button and it told me the current version is up to date. How do I get the update? My maintenance is current.

thanks!

I just switched from Lectora online 3.2 to Lectora Inspire 17.

Noticed onClick for videos is gone

and there's a video control bar only showing up mobile devices when it's set to none.

Is this normal behavior for lectora inspire?

@mallow76 - The integration between Lectora and BranchTrack should be seamless. Once you access the Inspire Tools tab it should automatically connect. If you run into an issue you may have to contact the support team.

@approg

Thanks for the feedback. The features that go into our product releases are prioritized based on customer feedback and requirements, changes in technology, and changes to the eLearning industry. Be sure to submit your enhancement requests on the Lectora Suggestions forum so we can put your feedback to work, as well!

Thanks,

Laura

Do you really need to brag about fixing bugs :-)

"Seamless Play publish option: When this option is selected on the HTML Options tab during publishing, your title will smoothly flow from page to page, eliminating the screen wipe commonly associated with HTML pages."

Ok, I realise that this probably took a lot of effort but it's been around in hand-built elearning for years.

"Auto-play media on mobile devices: When publishing using the Seamless Play option, media files will honor the Auto-Start selection on mobile devices, allowing simplified use of page narration and videos."

I prefer that media doesn't auto play (especially on mobile devices) but it's good to have the option.

"BranchTrack scenario-based simulations: Easily create, import, and edit scenario-based exercises using the BranchTrack application. Track the learner’s selections during the exercise and use the available score."

I have no interest in using BrachTrack.

"Anchor the position of your objects: Specify whether the object will maintain its location on the page within the view, even when the view is scrolled."

It's easy enough to add a CSS class with position:fixed to an object.

"SVG rendering of shapes and buttons: Using scalable vector graphics technology, published content will remain crisp and scalable on high-resolution displays."

This is nice but I would've like to have seen it in version 12.

"Camtasia 9"

I have no interest in using it.

"Snagit 13"

I have no interest in using it.

So of the primary new features Seamless Play is a nice to have but nothing to write home about (though SVG buttons are neat.)

@kraven7771 - I'll bring up the on mouse click with the development team because I'm not sure why it wouldn't be showing. As for the player it depends on the mobile device and browser when it comes to some of the playback settings because they've put development restrictions in place. Can you share the file with the Support team?

Off hand, the only thing I would suggest is to make sure you downloaded the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 download or upgrade that's necessary to run the new version.

The best thing to do will be to contact Camtasia's support team or forum to see if they have a solution for your problem. I'll list their information below:

With Lectora 17 installation there was an updated version for camtasia too. The previous version of camtasia is ok but the new one have an issue with video preview. What can I do for this problem?

Does "prioritized based on customer feedback and requirements, changes in technology, and changes to the eLearning industry" actually mean anything? It seems disingenuous - like it's off a marketing pamphlet.

Hi, Spoony.

Add a stylesheet with the following rule:

#text39 {

line-height: 9px;

}

Now your thin button should have the text centered horizontally on all up to date browsers. While you may balk at having to do this, it is one of the advertised functionalities of Inspire. What you might not be able to easily accomplish using the WYSIWYG interface, you can by coding directly.

The issue is that it appears that the editor displays text as RTF while browsers display it as HTML. I've always disliked how I'd spend time preparing text in the editor only to find it wrapping or moving unexpectedly when published.

undefined

Lectora is still unable to publish text at the same position as it is shown in the editor, see

http://community.trivantis.com/forums/topic/text-sizelocation-different-in-editor-than-when-published/

Very disappointing.

Darrel, thanks a lot but for your help but

  1. we also publish offline modules (.exe files).
  2. I am surrounded by several colleagues who would beat me up every day if I forced them to crawl through the source codes of the HTML pages.

At the moment our workaround is to not upgrade Lectora until the problem is fixed.

Camtasia's support team suggested me the above:

In Camtasia click on Edit undefined Advanced tab. Under the section for Hardware Acceleration change the dropdown menu to software only mode and then click OK. Close and re open Camtasia 9 and see if that works.

After this the issue has been solved.
