Video Clips

I need to insert some video clips into my presentation, and plan on using Sony Movie Studio Platinum Pro Pack upon a recommendation from a teacher at school... I was told it was able to do high-quality edits but was consumer-grade, so easier to use without formal training. However, this man must have been confused about my technical abilities, because I still cannot figure this program out!! I tried to see if Sony's website had a blog or forum like trivantis, but no luck! Anyone have any recommendations as to where I can find FREE help with this program??? I really just need to do a very basic edit and the DVD isn't even spectacular quality!
