Progress Bar as a Clock
July 9, 2008 12:00 AM
It's gotta be simple, but I just can't seem to get it. Is there someway to make the progress bar work as a clock timer, but not reset itself every time the next page is clicked?I need a test timer but I don't want numeric digits like the test timer displays. I want some analog display that I can base off of a clock timer. I'm searching for some thread where someone has done this and I am comming up empty.

So I'm new to Lectora, as of 6 months ago, I see you posted this in 2008...
I've been looking for any and all tutorials about Lectora, this is something that would be worth doing as numbers counting down can be viewed as more stress inducing than a friendly vector image changing colour or a dial moving from start to finish.
Have you found a way to do this since you posted this in 2008? I would be interested to know your findings.
You can put a progress indicator on your slide and add a "Timed Interval" action that changes the indicator to whatever percentage of time is left.
Hey ssneg,
Thanks for your suggestion, it's gotten me thinking how to employ that method.
Now the Progress Indicator that you mention is only a green bar... but lets say we wanted a clock that changes colour as it gets closer to completion. Is there a way to use the mechanism behind the indicator that only reveals a certain part of the progress bar after it dynamically calculates how many increments it has to make?
I am fairly new to Lectora, so I know the basics of the "Timer" and know that I can set it to a certain time, and once it reaches that time I can then Add an action to it that does something. ie: Shows a clock changing colour from green to red. But this would not be as dynamic as the Progress Indicator that's standard with Lectora.
So I could put together a few consecutive Timers each making up of a portion of the total time ie: Tenths, fifths etc and then have it display a new version of the "Clock" But then again this only changes in certain increments, an I would need to create separate graphics for each increment, which is unfeasible, also if the time of the test were to be changed I would have to then change all of the graphics as well.
Alternatively I thought I could animate a clock and export it from Adobe After effects as a .mov and then have it play at the start of the quiz and then once it ends set an action to it to end the quiz automatically.
Thanks
Nick
