Creating Table of Contents (TOCs)

Hey Ben,
When I put the Transparent Frame, the border around the frame goes away. However, there is still a 'background' to it.
Let's assume that I have a black background that I want to put this TOC on top of. If I take the TOC, set it for Transparent frame, and place it on that background, the TOC has an ivory/white colored background that you can see around the contents of the TOC. If there were no words in the TOC, it would be like placing a white square on that black background.
I tried to select the background as 'default' and then as white but it still appears. I can't use the eye dropper tool at the bottom to select a color because the background I am placing this TOC on is a gradient (starts out light at the top and gets darker as you go down.)
