Video caching... what really happens???

Thanks.... but I think I am still on the fence on this one.The problem with us using a streaming media server is the cost of implementation for our IT dudes. I think it is a pretty good idea. However, additionally we are hosted with our LMS and therfore it is not in house. So I have to package the courses and upload them to Learn.com.Because I am uploading the courses, and all the media files are uploaded in a media folder when the course is packaged and sent to Learn.com, somehow - although this may be dimented, I am thinking that the video is only cached when it is clicked on in the course. Because, basically, isn't the course simply a navigational system for all of the objects? What I am saying is this, the clickable buttons on the course, are like behaviors in that they CALL a function or PERFORM a function. If the page has LINKS to 25 videos (which in essence the buttons on pages are simply fancy links to other objects - in this case videos) then you're not suggesting that all 25 videos load when the page does - right. I think what happens is the videos reside in the same place they always do - on the server. Then if a link (button) is clicked the video (object) is called. Like I said, there could be 25 buttons on a page to 25 videos and I am sure they are not all cached when the page loads, because it takes a click of a button to link to them.... so maybe I am answering my own question here. Thanks for taking a stab at this... any other comments - I'd really appreciate them.Bradley FredrickInstructional DeisgnerLectora user for 1 year.
