A zen monk, famous for his drawings, was once asked by a tourist to paint a butterfly. He agreed and asked the tourist to come back the next day. When the tourist returned the next day, the monk presented her with a beautiful drawing butterfly (black and white drawing - can't remember what it is called). She was overcome with delight for it was the most beautiful drawing she had ever seen. She thanked him and he responded that it was nothing. As she walked out of the yard she happened to glance thought the open window to his hut and saw literally hundreds sheets of paper scattered everywhere with partially finished drawings of butterflies. What appears to some as simple is usually the result of much trial and error. Never feel stupid about not getting the solution. Recently I developed seven complete courses only to find in a pilot test that teaching how to use software with any authoring tool and only one monitor is frustrating, time consuming, and very ineffective. I should have known better! (To teach, the learner needs to do. And you can't "do" on the same monitor that you are learning on. I am converting all the beautiful online courses to Word documents. Boring but much much more effective as far as the learner is concerned.)Learning is a participative sport.
