The new Captivate version 2 or 3 makes real easy work out of branching. There is a branching editor that looks like a powerpoint tool. With Captivate, you can also publish out to a PowerPoint to show all of the mapping for the course.I have used this method in the past, just beyond pen and post-its, and it works well. It also helps to create a prototype for your clients to start seeing some of the interaction paths.
