Notify learners when the learning management system times out

For example here's my clients concern:
A learner is taking a course and decides to go to lunch in the middle of it. The LMS (in this situation Oracle if it's relevant) times out while the learner is away. When they return, the course window is still open but they are no longer connected to the LMS, is there a way to have a popup message let them know that they have been disconnected from the LMS?
