Matching question, slow lines

I'm using 2006 and running into performance problems with matching questions as I test them in our LMS (NETg/KnowledgeNet). They are being drawn very slowly. It appears that each pixel is treated as a separate picture as I see "XX items remaining" in the status area of the window (bottom left) as the line is completed. Anyone experiencing this?
