Hiding TOC contents...sometimes

I have a title that initially asks a user whether or not they want to view an accessible version of the course. If they choose the accessible version, there are several pages (such as those with hot spots) that I don't ever show and I don't want them to appear in the TOC..however I do want these pages to appear in the TOC if they are in the non-accessible version. I have a variable that indicates whether or not the accessible version was chosen but how can I use this information to control what shows and doesn't in the TOC. If i just uncheck the show in TOC option, then the page will never show and if I leave it checked, it will always show.
