Background size bigger than course size

I created a background picture of size 1600 x 1200. My lectora course is of size 800 x 600. I want to have the effect that the course floats on the background. This works if I set 'page alignment for HTML publishing' to 'left justified'. However, I want to show the course centered. When I do this, the larger background is not shown anymore- it is reduced to the size of the course. Does anyone know what's going on here? I have been struggling for a while and cannot get it working..
