Table of Contents - Assigning initial value so learners know what the drop-down field
February 5, 2014 12:00 AM
Hello,
I want to assign an ititial value to my Table of Contents so when TOC is viewed on the page, it shows the initial value I gave it (TOC or MENU, etc). This readily identifies what the drop-down is to the learner.
Right now, the TOC drop-down is blank until learner clicks the drop-down to select a page. Then it displays the page name that it is on.
Does anyone know how to get the TOC to display a customized name?

I just added a drop down TOC to a title (and selected all the pages to be included) - the TOC looks empty when working on the page, but in Run Mode, it populates with the page I am on (first page included - did not have to navigate to populate the drop down box). Is this what you want?
If not, you could "fudge it" by just putting an image or text box over the TOC upon entrance, and have it disappear when they click on the drop down arrow for the TOC. Just a thought.
Yes, but like you stated, is blank until I select something. Excellent idea about fudging a name on top until selected. Will implement. Thanks so much!
