Passing Variables between Camtasia and Lectora
July 10, 2015 12:00 AM
Hello,
Can Camtasia send variable info to Lectora? For example, the learner is in Lectora and launches the Camtasia file. When they reach slide 50 in Camtasia, can that Camtasia file send the Lectora course a variable stating that the learner has reached the desired point?
Thank you,
Sharon

I don't think that Camtasia has a notion of "slides". Would it be okay to notify Lectora when Camtasia movie reaches a certain time point?
Would Camtasia notify Lectora when an action is taken? For instance when the user clicks something in Camtasia, will it notify Lectora of this event?
No, I don't think it would. But if you export Camtasia movie and use standard Lectora player to play it, you will be able to add events to the timelines.
Sure, check out this blog on video events: http://trivantis.com/blog/add-events-audio-video-lectora/
So you can add an event on the timeline (e.g. at 90% of your video) that could unblock the "Next" button in your course or something.
Excellent! I will try that. When they reach that point in the demo I will add an event to update the variable. Thank you so much for the info. I appreciate it.

Thank you for the idea. It sounds like it might work. Here is what I am trying to prevent: user in Lectora course launches the demo and then closes it without even watching the entire demo. Is there a way to track this in the Lectora player to know when the user has reached a certain point in the demo.
