My 2 cents....1. Putting a navigation screen item that states if they close the browser window, they will not be assessed for the course, and they must use the to have a completion registered.2. I think the reason for the thought the docs are in error is that short essay/answer questions are always subjective to the person writing them and the person reading them. If they don't have any real right/wrong answer, it's hard to assess the answer. If you search for keywords in the users answer, you run the risk of not really assessing if the user knows what they are talking about, and just enters the needed buzz words. ...which leads back to item 1, where you could just put the submit on the essay question screen and not assess the essay question.
