Retaining Quiz Responses

I have a quiz in a peoplesoft LMS. My problem is that if a student takes the quiz, answers 2 questions (answer them correctly), exits the quiz and then comes back into the quiz saying continue where I left off, they then answers questions 3-10 correclty and get their test results they get a score of 80% because it is not counting the 2 that they previously answered - it does not save those response. Now it will work if I tell the quiz to retain all answers but we do not want to retain all answers because if they fail they would come back in and be able to just chaneg answers. So my question is how can I program Lectora to retain those questions that are answered if they come back in at say question 3 without saying retain all answers - is it even possible?
