Karen,
Another thing you could do is disinherit all from that page, and if your background is only 1 image, then you could go to that pages background tab in the properties menu and select the image as the background. It would then keep the image on the background and show the connecting lines and squares around the pictures.
To make it one picture, you could take a screenshot or build them altogether in an image authoring program (I use snagit), then if you have any buttons, line them up with where the image has them and layer them on top.
