Hi @chris_willis , do you have a link to the release notes? I just upgraded to Lectora19 and now you're moving on to 21... I need to figure out if it is worth the cost to do another upgrade this quickly.
Hey, @andrew-robertson, I'd love to see you in Lectora Desktop21! Please check in with your eLearning Brothers sales consultant. If you are a suite subscriber, you will automatically qualify for an upgrade.
Meantime, here's The Big List of new features coming to Lectora 21. Let me know which ones you are most excited to hear more about!
Hi @chris_willis , one more question. If I were to upgrade to Lectora 21 over the next few days, can I leave my other developer on v19 until we know it is stable?
Hey Andrew, I'm getting pushback from the business as well. We had some challenges when moving from L18, then 19.0.3 then 19.0.4... things needed to be rebuilt. With massive corporate clients this is not turn-key... it can literally take months to get caught up, even when the course can be rebuilt in a day, it's not simply a re-publish. Corporations have business partners and various departments (or regulatory or legal bodies) that need now re-visit and re-approve any change or potential change to functionality.
Not really a big fan of the disruptive updates and hoping Lectora incrementally updates in the future with a vastly accelerated schedule so corporations can manage. I'm reminded of the days of semi-annual Netscape browser updates verses the application like Chrome that release every 6 weeks. It's a proven model that the users prefer and now come to expect.
Is there a page to report bugs on 21? I can't preview screens from a previous build?
You shouldn't have to republish your projects unless you need to make changes. In that case don't they have to be re-approved anyway? I do guess the level of testing would be different. There have been a lot of accessibility improvements in this release and I know that is an area that you are concerned with. These are not big changes, but they do affect critical areas.
We hear you about incremental updates and v21, with it's subscription model, will allow us to do this (vs having a major release each year).
We are really excited about v21.
You can install v21 and keep v19 or v18 on your system if you need to. If you use the two versions at the same time, always start with the highest version first. Then the older version can be used to for reference in edit mode. It's better if you run only one version at a time.
@web-foley thank you this does help us understand the challenges you are facing. We are working on detailed release notes for v21 and will post them here soon.
Glad to hear we can have multiple versions on the system at once. It will be the only way I can verify changes. And yes I'll need to re-Publish and analyze all the new published versions in multiple browsers and multiple screen readers in detail, before sending them off for retesting UAT and system integration testing on our LMS. To date, not one of the courses sent to our corporate Accessibility department have passed compliance that were published from L19.0.4 so I'm hoping this update changes things. I get not everyone goes through this with their development but courses which I must wrap up this month may not even launch to the end of October (and that does not account for the L21 transition). I've been doing corporate eLearning for 20+ years and this is pretty much how it goes. This is due to both volume of courses, translation to different languages, and the multiple departments (legal etc.) that take weeks to return their mandatory approval. This is why the "release notes" Andrew mentioned are helpful. They narrow the topics we need to analyze with scrutiny. There will be almost a dozen Lectora developers at our organization dealing with this.
Where i can get downloadable link for Lectora v21? I have requested on ELB website but i got the message like "Thanks for submitting your request. We will reach you shortly................" but still I didn't get any call or mail?
