How to create button to move groups in sequence

Hi everyone,

I'm very new to Lectora and using a bit of trial and error at the moment. I have tried to find a thread to help me with this problem and nothing as of yet.

I'm trying to create an interactive step by step process whereby my learners can click next and see the next step in a 4 step process.

Each step will contain the step number, some text and an image. I have managed to group each step with the necessary text and images etc. The problem I'm having is I don't know how to set the actions for the NEXT button to happen in sequence.

In other words I have set two actions for the button, on mouse click. First action is to hide group 1 (Step 1) and at the same time the second action is to show group 2 (step2). But if I set another action ie hide group 2 show group 3 (step 3) they will all happen at the same time.

I need the learner to continue clicking the next button and flow through each step in sequence. Step 1 through 4.

How do I set my actions to do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Click the check box to the left of an object or group to hide it. If there are no check boxes, you will need to change Lectora preferences. Click file > Lectora Preferences. On the General tab, make sure Show visibility check boxes in the Title Explorer.

I usually create several separate Next buttons, each within a group. E.g.:

Group1 contains Button1 (actions: Hide Group1, Show Group2)

Group2 contains Button2 (actions: Hide Group2, Show Group3)

Group3 contains Button3 (actions: Hide Group3, Show Group4)

Group4 contains Button4 (actions: Hide Group4, Show Group1) --> so it cycles.

You can just copy the button or use several transparent buttons on top of a single "Click to see next" image.

Thanks rwalters. My preferences are set correctly and I have clicked the check boxes to minimize the groups on the left of all the groups in the title explorer. I am right when I say the - signs click and change to the + signs?

But all the images and texts from each group still seem to be layered on top of each other in the stage window.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the above SSNEG. Maybe you, or anyone else, could help me with another small issue. In order to create each group I have been layering each group over each other on one page. Is this the best way to do this?

It works when you run the title as all the groups are set to be 'hidden initially' until called to action by the button. It just makes it a bit of a nightmare when trying to edit as all of the text boxes and images are layered on top of each other.

When you are creating each group are you creating them on separate page each time?

thanks

The plus/minus symbol is for expanding the group. There is a square in between the plus/minus and the object name. Click this to hide the group or object. If the square box is not there, check Lectora preferences. One annoying thing is that they may revert back to being visible when you reopen the title.

Thanks very much guys that's solved it for me.
