Adding Variables

Hello all-I am running v.2008 and I am trying to add 3 entry boxes and get the total in a textbox using change contents.I have them adding together using variables -add variables but I am getting very strange results when I put a value in the Value field on the On Select/Change tab so I think there must be a better way to do this. Does anyone have any insight as to how to make the results of the 3 entry fields (ex. 10, 20, 30) total (60) into another field on the same page? Thanks!Tara
