255 Characters Limitation... Need more!

I have a test with 8 pages. Each page has multiple questions. I want the test to submit the responses to our Saba LMS which is being executed properly. The problem is: a lot of these questions will be answered with more than 255 characters (I chose essay for question type), but our LMS and SCORM/AICC only allow 255 characters to be recorded per question.
Is there a different way to record the essay answers in our LMS that allows more than 255 characters per question? Or could this be done completely differently? Thank you so much.
