variable default values

I am using 2007 version.I will check with the other developer. The way I am using this is for internal tracking of lesson/module completion while the course is being taken. Normally the action sets the variable to a value of 1 after one of two things happen: either a value comes back from the LMS indicating the lesson has been previously completed or the lessons set another variable to 1 if the lesson was completed either by passing a test or by completing the last page of the lesson. We do not always have tests on the lessons.Just thinking out loud but maybe if I set the varaible to 0 if the lMS says it isn't complete when we load the initial LMS values. That way I know the variable conatains a 0. I will give it a try. But I know that setting the default to 3 corrected my problems with the 0 and 1 value.I know the other developer had problems when they converted their older courses from 2006 to 2007 because I had to find the problems for them. They are course devlopers but they usually only go as far as they have to into the code and how things work. They like drop and drag.
