Saving a copy of a title

My orig copy is on my local machine. I save a copy to my network drive (as a back up). When it finishes saving, it is working now from the saved copy on the network. So now I have to close out the title and reopen the title on my local machine.So you are telling me that every time I do a save copy of title, I have to close the title and reopen from where the original saved title was? That seems more time consuming than practical.
