numbered list with sub-points

I have a numbered list, several with sub-points. Hre's my outline style.1. A. 1)My problem is that when I have sub-points, the first level numbers start renumbering to 1. When I reset it to start at 4, the first and fourth numbers become 4.I've tried to fix this using MS Word, but get the same results when I paste it into Lectora.What am I missing?
