Navigation and progress bar

Hi, I am a newbie, but figured that I needed some advanced help with this issue. I am attempting to create a progress bar for a chapter, and I found an existing procedure out on the forum, but I could not implement it. Could someome help walk a newbie through this procedure so that I can show the course progress to the learner visually as well as percentage. Thanks- Lynnette
