Lectora 11 crashing (or not responding) a lot. Anyone else?

I've been using Lectora 11 now for a few days and it crashes or stops responding a lot. Any else or is it just me and my PC?

Are you using Lectora over a network? In the past this has caused this issue for me. I always try to run Lectora locally and store my files on my local machine (actually an external hard drive)

Thanks for letting me know it's not just me. It's maddening! Just had another crash after doing a simple task. Grrr.

Seems to happen when I make rapid changes. Nice to see that I'm not alone:)

I am not working over a network either. I am working locally on my HD. I also think that when I click around on things too "fast" that it seems to crash. It just did it again and I went from clicking on a text box to the "Text" button on the ribbon. Trying to keep up and save after every edit, but it is time consuming to say the least!

First of all, I apologize for the frustration I'm certain everyone feels when Lectora stops responding.

My best advice is that if Lectora presents you with the option to send in an Error Report, definitely go ahead and do so. The information sent in these reports helps our developers pinpoint the exact problem, and is incredibly helpful in tracking down those hard-to-recreate crashes. If you are also comfortable with providing your email address, this gives us the opportunity to ask any necessary follow-up questions.

Otherwise, please be sure to send your issues to support@trivantis.com to ensure that we have a means for following up, documenting, and tracking your problem.

I'll be sure to follow up on this thread when I have more information to share.

Thanks,

Laura

Thanks Laura, I appreciate your response! I am filling out the Error Report each time it crashes, with my email address, and I reached out to support@trivantis yesterday. I will post here if they have any information.

This issue is a result of certain video drivers and threading on specific machines. Our developers have already modified the code to get around these issues and after it goes through some testing on machines that can experience this issue, it will be included in a future update. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our users.

How to:

"It appears it could be related to the Thumbnail View over to the left side of your screen. If you 'float' the thumbnail view and size it down to as small as you can get it, drag it over somewhere, without docking it again so that it is out of the way, and see if that resolves the crashing issues."

This seems to have taken care of the issue. Such a relief! :D

Thanks for sharing that, Brooke!

@Laura M - I assume that's just a temporary workaround to use while Trivantis fixes the underlying problem, right?

Laura G,

What Ed said :)

Comes and goes for me. Some days simply unbearable. I don't know what to blame.

I have to say - Lectora is crashing like crazy and I'm not using it on a network. I went through great "pains" to get to use this new version so I can't complain outloud - BUT - it's crashing like crazy.... so much so that I've lost count. I keep trying to beat it by saving continually but that doesn't always work.

This was happening when i first started using it. I shut down a few apps i was running on the side to free up some system resources. Also had probs when at 75% zoom (to make the whole page visible) and tabbed between browser/preview and edit screens. It didn't like changing from full page back to 75%. Stopped using 75% and the probs went away.

Little more painful but less than crashing. JFYI.

Good luck

I have the same problem. It happens all the time when I work with tests that include custom results, but also randomly when I work with content (text, images etc.).
