Full Screen Video Fails on iPad

I just updated from 18.1.4 to 18.2.3 and running into a issue with full screen video on iPad. I click the full screen button, and the video appears to "try" to go full screen (flickers a bit), but then goes away. The video continues to play without interuption, just doesn't go to full screen.

The video files are embedded locally in the course, I'm publishing to SCORM 1.2 (non-seamless player), and testing the courses on SCORM Cloud.

To ensure it isn't my iPad or some recent iOS update, I reimported the 18.1.4 version of the course I published just a few weeks ago. Full screen works just fine in that version...no other changes were made...just republish.

Lastly, v18.2.3 full screen video seems to work just fine on my desktop using Edge or Chrome. My Android phone using Chrome also goes to full screen without error.

@broeme - Thanks for the info, I have a bug opened now, and I spoke to dev to make them aware of it.

@broeme Hi Brian, is there any reason you're publishing non-seamless? I'm able to recreate this with non-seamless, and will open a bug to track it. I did test my title published seamless and the video went full screen

@tea - Thanks, I appreciate the quick response and attention. The reason for non-seamless is that this series of courses was designed to comply with 508. My understanding is that the seamless player is not accessible.

@broeme the bug I opened was included in 19.0.3. I added your comments to that bug

My group just gave up on using fullscreen, because it doesn't do what we need in iOS/iPadOS.

@tea - Could you let me know if this bug was addressed? The reason I ask is that I just purchased my v19 license, installed v19.0.3, and still getting a full screen video issue on my iPad.

This is slightly different than I previously reported. Now, the video successfully goes to full screen, but getting out of full screen causes problems. Regardless of how I try to return to the course (non full screen video), the player either ignores my request and stays full screen, or the course does some odd visual replication thing and locks up.

@tea - Thanks for the update. I'll look forward to hearing if the native Lectora player (non-seamless) can be fully functional when it comes to full screen usage.

@CarlFink - What solution does your group use? Does it support events, ondone actions and single/multiple VTT files? Additionally, can you position multiple videos on the page and manually start one at a time?

@broeme sorry, that was a type I just noticed, the but was NOT in 19.0.3

@broeme, we just make the video object as big as possible. We don't use multiple video files on one page, mostly because we were lazy--I just thought of a way to use that to make the courses better, so now I have to try that on my next project.

It supports events and actions. I have never worked with VTT files.

@broeme I brought it back up with dev. I don't have an answer yet but will keep you updated

@tea - Thanks for the clarification. Is there any way to get an update or estimated fix date? I can't stress enough how much this is affecting our production schedule. We've waited through both minor and now major releases of Lectora for a fix and we still can't produce courses for customers. Instead of developing additional content, I'm now looking into other solutions like external media players and custom programming. Definitely not how I should be spending my time.

@tea - Is there anyway to get an estimate on the non-seamless full screen bug with iOS? It's important to my customer that we distribute their video-based courses in early-mid August. They'd rather not move to an external media player because of the short time frame to research, implement, test, and support a new feature.

The only option I see in the short-term is to revert my v18.2.3 back to v18.1.4 and reproduce these courses. Again, double work on a project that should be done and delivered.

@tea - Can you provide an update on the bug fix for full screen using non-seamless on iOS? I've been holding off on publishing my customer's production courses for months now. They've been very patient, but undefined need to get these video-based courses out.

@tea - Best news I've heard all day. I'll use the tracking number and contact support for that patch. Cheers!

@broeme dev was able to get a fix for this, and we'll be putting it in our next release. We can send you the patch, it is a new mediaelement-and-player.js file that replaces the one in the "Support Files\MediaPlayer" folder under where Lectora has been installed

Our internal tracking for this issue is LD-7135, anyone needing this patch before the next release can contact support and reference this issue number.
