Disabled buttons still clickable

Hi! I am having some problems with custom buttons. I have an action set that should disable button once they are selected, however the buttons are remaining clickable. Has anyone else tried out the new button states and had a similar problem?
The build is an interactive decision tree where once users pick a choice the button deactivates, but I want it to still be present so that they can see what choices they made to get to their end result.

I have an older version of Lectora so I don't have the extra button states. My work around is to place a mask over the button and an action on the button that shows the mask when the button is clicked. The mask must be set to initially hidden and always on top and the button has to have the always on top setting unselected, but it works. Attached is a rough example.
