Additional Files not identified in Resource Manager

I've been asked to develop e-Learning using a template that's been set up by a different development group. In the process of learning how the template file has been set up, I noticed that there were broken image links in the published files associated with some of the external HTML code. It didn't take long to discover that the code in question used images that weren't copied to the images folder for the published files because I had selected the option to remove unused resources.

I thought that I could avoid this problem in the future by importing the necessary images in the Additional Files tab for the affected external HTML objects. Unfortunately, images I import in this way still show up in the Resource Manager as being unused and that means they'll be removed the next time I accept the option to remove unused files when I publish. Have I missed anything? I thought the whole point of the Additional Files tab was to set up an association between an object and the external files it needs.

I'm using an evaluation version of Lectora X.6 at the moment. Could this be the reason the associations aren't set up as I thought they should be?
