Viewing full-size .swf as part of Lectora Quiz

I created an assessment simulation in Captivate 4 and am using it as part of a Lectora quiz. So far, I have been able to get the assessment to pass the correct variable back to Lectora AS LONG AS the .swf file is sitting on the same page as the question. I would like for the user to see the assessment SIM in full screen, but all of the options I have tried where the .swf file is being called from a link or button will not pass the variable back.
