Using Events and Adding Flags Without Lectora Pro Suite

Hello everyone, my question: Is it possible to take advantage of Lectora's timing events with audio and video, without the use of Lectora's Pro Suite Video Editor. Can you use another video editor to add flags and will Lectora respond to the flags? Rumor has it any editor will work but has anyone actually had success?
