This is not directly on point for your question, but others following this thread may wish to know about Irfanview, a freeware program that can create thumbnails in a batch mode very quickly. http://www.irfanview.com/.It is VERY useful for cropping & adjusting images, but it is not an editor. It is so useful to me that it is my default image viewer.
