.swf does not play back correctly

It won't run in Preview mode - you'll have to export it to HTML to see if it is working properly. Preview mode will play a timeline animation, but doesn't run the actionscript. It should be fine if you publish to HTML and view it there. Just as a sidenote, the whay you are doing things will only work when published to HTML or SCORM - it won't work if published to an .exe or CD. Since it is loading in external assets (images and things) do you have those linked to Lectora so they are included when you publish out? If not, that could be why they don't show up.
