Strange Occurance with Actions

Well, let's see what happens:User moves mouse onto image. Var =0 so it shows box 1 and adds 1. Now var = 1.User moves mouse out of image. Add 1. Now var=2. Show text box 2. (Now you have text box 1 and 2 showing)User moves mouse into same image. Var=2 on way in. Var not=1 so hide Text box 1, No add because var not=2. Var still = 2. What am I missing? Looks confusing.
