Lots. AICC & SCORM interface with your LMS (more stuff behind the scenes) and may not run well directly from your desktop. HTML runs from your desktop. You should always publish there first and see what it looks like and if everything works. Publishing to an Executable (not something you asked about) produces a version that runs on its own and is very heavy. After publishing to HTML or Executable you have a Preview button you can run.
