Publishing for iPad with video: MP4/"HTML5"

We're doing a test to see what it would take to convert some of our existing titles so they can be used on mobile devices (iPad primarily). Up to this point all of our video has been published as Flash. We've taken the video and re-encoded it as H.264 (MP4), with AAC for audio. We've also turned off compression in the publish settings. "Video Type" is left as Standard Video.

The first thing I notice that doesn't seem right is that when I select the video file to import into my project, Lectora tells me that "The Title contains Quicktime movies, and no support for Quicktime was found on your system." If I change the extension from "mp4" to "mpg", I can add the video file without that warning.

When I publish, the file doesn't play on a computer or on an iPad. Looking at the published HTML, the video is set to use the Windows Media Player, the "iType" property for the video object is set to "wmp".

Not sure what I'm missing here, or why Lectora is flagging this file as Quicktime video.

This is Lectora x.6, by the way.

I'm going to follow up to my own question here, since I seem to have found the answer to this specific problem. Two things were hanging me up here. One is that, even though "AAC" audio is supposed to be HTML5-compliant, Lectora didn't like it. Once I re-encoded the audio as MP3 (and left the video as MP4/H.264), Lectora put the HTML5 video tags in my published file.

Then I ran into a second snag. The media player kept giving me an error that the video file couldn't be found. This turned out to be a server configuration issue, there was no MIME type set up for MP4. Once I added that, the video played on my iPad (and desktop web browsers) without issue.

Just wanted to share in case someone else runs into something similar.

Thanks for this, it was just what I needed.

Now I can get the film to play in iOS, and safari/firefox/explorer.

My next problem is, when using firefox or explorer on a windows PC, my fullscreen button is gone

I'm creating a course on surgery, so the users need the full screen option in order to get all the gory details right.

Any help mush appreciated,
