Progress Bar on Randomized Test

I totally give up. I simply cannot get the progress bar to work. I've tried a Custom Bar and a Table of Contents. I have inherited the Table of Contents and Page numbers (but not displayed). I have watched the video 3 times, read every blog I can find on it - and STILL cannot get the thing to work. It starts over on each page. I want it to go through the test. I have a Test Section with the Progress Bar under it set to For This Section. I have a pool of 65 questions with a random pick of 25. I need to add - this is my very first project. But I'm totally frustrated with this thing and ready to throw out the Progress Bar and move on. I know it's something simple - but I've spent a week on this one thing on and off.

In a randomized test the pages cannot be part of the toc, so you can't use a toc progress bar. I don't know the video but here's something that worked in my test:

1. Place the progress bar on chapter level of the test chapter

2. Set it to "Custom"

3. Number of steps (the first entry field after the type): 25 (must be the number of pages you want to pick randomly from the pool)

On each of your question pages add an action on page level:

On: Show

Action: Set progress

Target: Select your progress bar

Position: Var(PageInChapter)

The name of the variable may be different, I don't exactly know what it's called in original Lectora. Check the variable manager for it's proper name.

This really worked well. Thank you so much. I'm sure others will need this information.
