Play / Pause of Adobe Captive 5 File (AS 3.0)

Hello All -
I have been trying numerous things to try and resolve this and have looked deep in this forums and tried many solutions. Alas, all have failed.
The course has been designed with Captivate 5, with the SWF's imported into Lectora per the clients requirements. We need to add a play / pause button to control the Captive 5 swfs. We are using a "HTML" button in Lectora to keep the UI consistent since not all slides are SWF's.
We have tried the following with no success.
1. Use Flashcommand "Pause"
2. Set the variable of "rdcmndPause" to "1" to pause and "rdcmndResume" to "1" to play
3. Tried Call function of "rdcmndPause" and "rdcmndResume"
Nothing has worked. I know there has to be a way to control the Captivate 5 swf from a html button in Lectora.
Does anybody have any idea? Could the FScommand be trying to communicate in AS 2.0 and since Captivate 5 is in AS 3.0 the commands are not working?
