PDF file - Open in New Window
March 27, 2012 12:00 AM
Question. I have a PDF document set to open when the student clicks on a custom button. The problem is that it is not opening in a new window. It opens in in the same window as the e-learning. Students are selecting the X in the top right hand corner for the window. It is kicking them completely out of the e-learning and making them start from the beginning. The only way I have found to get them back into the e-learning is if they select the back button in the window. Are there any suggestions on how to get this to open in a new window without closing out of the e-learning.
Thank you,
Karen

For some reason, my PDFs open in a new tab in Chrome (on a different window). If I check No Menubar, No Toolbar, No Status Bar and No Location Bar, it then opens correctly in a new window. I'm fine with that, just don't know why it's necessary.
Are you using lectora 11? I have tried everything to get the pdf to open in a different with no success. any suggestions? If you were able to get it to work can you send me a screen capture?
thanks,
In Lectora v11 you need to add your pdf as an attachment (Insert -> Add more -> Attachment)
Add an action to your button:
On: Click
Action: Go to web address
Adress: name_of_your_document.pdf
Open in: New window
